Helping organizations create more social impact sometimes means developing more impactful leaders. SWAHA Foundation is taking a different grantmaking approach with the organizations they support, by investing directly in the development of their young leaders.

The next generation is willing to consider different funding models for giving. One shift observed among the next generation of givers is they want to be involved at the grassroots level of an organization where they can get to know who is doing the work and trust that the money is being spent wisely.

How relational giving leads to more personally meaningful giving. It’s more than just supporting good work being done in the world. It is also about becoming a source of support for the leaders of organizations.

The Align-SWAHA partnership has a unified goal: to make the best use of SWAHA dollars to transform environment, education, and human rights, not just with the 5% from its granting budget but with every tool in its toolbox.

As summer transitions to fall, I continue to cherish the extensive time I spent on the river over these past few months.
