SWAHA’s Origin
As a young man, my dad was the recipient of multiple scholarships that provided him with the means to complete his education. Once he had established his career, he was determined to share his wealth so that others may benefit from educational opportunities. In the 1980s, my parents, Richard and Lynda established a family foundation with the mission of offering scholarships and supporting projects that helped others achieve their educational goals. Over the years, both of my parents became experienced and informed philanthropists in a variety of diverse ways. When my father passed away in 2009, my siblings and I were placed in charge of his foundation. The three of us worked together, guided by a desire to honor his legacy and fulfill the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam - to repair the brokenness in the world. In 2020, my siblings and I made the difficult, but necessary decision to split our family foundation into three successor foundations and from this, SWAHA was born.
My vision for SWAHA is to honor my parents’ legacy by investing in leaders, initiatives, and movements that are working towards transforming our educational systems with a creatively updated approach. SWAHA collaborates closely with Align Impact and Pearl Wealth to ensure that our investments match our values and maximize our giving impact. My hope is that SWAHA will serve as a model and resource for others who wish to create beneficial change in our world.
